Bird will be launching the new SiteHawk SK-6000 antenna and cable tester at PMR Expo in Cologne, on Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th November. See www.pmrexpo.de for more details of the exhibition and venue.
The Bird SiteHawk SK-6000 provides a user-friendly visual display of VSWR, Return Loss, Cable Loss and Distance-to-Fault in a rugged, compact and self-contained instrument. Covering 20MHz to 6GHz, the Android-based instrument may also be used as a display for any of Bird’s USB power sensors, including the 5017D which can show Average Forward and Reflected Power, Peak Forward and Reflected power, VSWR, Return Loss, Match Efficiency and Duty Cycle for analogue and digital waveforms.
The touch-screen display allows the user to rapidly switch between functions, and to select the desired frequency range either as a Centre Frequency and Span, or as Start and Stop Frequencies. Selectable markers and limit lines allow the unit to display the resonant frequency and/or the useable bandwidth of an antenna system.
Distance-to-Fault may be displayed in either SWR or Return Loss mode; the former giving a clear indication of a short or open circuit, the latter giving a more detailed analysis including connectors and joints. There is a large built-in database of coaxial cables including velocity ratios and attenuation figures – this may be edited by the user to add new types of cable.
The digitally-modulated test waveform provides immunity against false readings in environments where there are strong field strengths around the test frequency.
SiteHawk will operate for up to 10 hours on a single charge, giving it autonomy for an entire day’s work.
The kit includes a hard transit case, a soft case with lanyard attachments, a universal AC charger, coaxial test cable with N male/female connectors, OTG (on-the-go) cable adapter for connection to the optional USB RF power sensor, and the open/short/50Ω calibration tool.
