Within the programmable power supplies portfolio are DC, AC and linear designs for applications up to 5kW. All models are cost-effective, says Aspen, and are characterised by APM Technologies’ excellent design and build quality.
The rack-mounted SP series DC power supplies exhibit voltage and current measurement capability. It has a standard 19inch rack mount configuration. APM offers 23 models with power ratings up to 1.6kw in a 1U design and 23 models with a power rating of 4kw in a 2U design. Output voltages range from 20 to 200V DC. The SP series design offers up to 92 per cent efficiency. In addition, the SP series provides high precision with up to 0.05 per cent voltage accuracy and 0.1 per cent current accuracy with up to 80m/s no load voltage drop time and 10m/s full load voltage drop time.
The APM SP series can be operated in a master-slave configuration with one master and up to nine slaves. They also feature RS232, RS485, local area network (LAN), universal serial bus (USB) interfaces supplied as standard. A general purpose interface bus (GPIB) is also available as an option. All 2U configuration supplies also offer standard automobile electrical test curves.
Over the temperature range 0 to +40 degree C the SP range can be relied upon for high stability with continuous and stable working in full load voltage for prolonged periods.

There is persistent pressure on the RF/microwave industry to deliver higher performance, higher functionality, smaller-size, lower-power-consumption and lower cost synthesizers.1-18 Although all synthesizers exhibit significant differences as a result of specific applications, they share basic fundamental design objectives as depicted in Figure 1. The ideal synthesizer should preferably be broadband with fine frequency resolution that allows addressing a larger number of potential applications. Aside from frequency coverage and resolution, phase noise and spurs are critical parameters that impose the ultimate limit in the system’s ability to resolve signals of small amplitude. Another key parameter that impacts overall system performance is frequency switching speed. The time spent by the synthesizer transitioning between frequencies becomes increasingly valuable since it cannot be used for data processing. Modern synthesizers tend to be faster due to the ongoing increase in the data rates of RF/microwave systems. Another challenge is size and cost reduction. These requirements—wide frequency coverage, small step size, fast switching speed, adequate spectral purity, small size and low cost—are the key drivers in the development of modern frequency synthesizers.

Stripline Directional Couplers, Low Loss Airline Directional Couplers and High Directivity Directional Couplers - How much power can they handle?
The reason is that directional couplers are frequently used for load-pull testing of amplifiers or monitoring a signal after a power amplifier. In either case, the directional coupler will be placed as close to the output of the power amplifier as possible, which means it must perform within spec at high operating powers.
Despite the importance of directional coupler performance under high power inputs, most directional coupler vendors offer a single number without any background or context. As we will show in this post, the static value commonly provided for the power handling of a directional coupler is an oversimplification of the matter.
